Praia dos Salgados in the Algarve is a semi-sheltered beach break known for fairly consistent surf, performing best with west to southwest swells and offshore winds from the east or northeast. The sandy bottom produces both left and right waves, generally cleaner around mid to high tide. While summer conditions tend to be smaller and less reliable, autumn and winter swells often bring rideable waves suitable for all levels. Crowds are usually moderate, especially during peak season. The best month for consistent surf is typically December.
