Praia dos Frades

Praia dos Frades is an inconsistent beach break located in two small bays south of Peniche (Central Portugal), known for also being the neighboring beach of São Bernardino. It offers a right-hand wave that breaks in front of the sightseeing point. The waves here are generally more playful and gentle, better suited for all levels, including beginners and longboarders. The most favorable conditions are a West swell combined with offshore winds from the East or Northeast. The break works best around mid to high tide. The spot is known to be uncrowded and often empty. Surfers should be aware of rocks appearing when the tide is low. The best time to catch surfable conditions is typically during the Autumn and Winter months when swells are larger.
