📍 Local Knowledge

Praia do Porto Novo is an exposed beach break in Central Portugal (Torres Vedras) that offers fairly consistent surf and works year-round, featuring both left and right-hand waves with multiple peaks. It is a suitable spot for all levels of surfers, especially intermediates and experienced surfers on larger days. The most favorable conditions are a West or Northwest swell combined with offshore winds from the East or Northeast. The break works well across all tides, though conditions can vary with sand movement. The bottom is a mix of sand and rocks. The spot is generally uncrowded. Surfers should be aware of rocks and potential strong currents with bigger swells. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically during Autumn through Winter (October–March).
