Praia do Peixe in Ericeira is a sheltered beach break that produces both left and right-hand waves, performing best with swells from the southwest and offshore winds from the east. It receives a mix of groundswells and local windswells, offering reasonably consistent surf except during the typically flat summer months. The break works best around low tide and can become crowded during good conditions. Pollution may occasionally be a concern. The most favorable surf is reported when a southwest swell coincides with an east offshore wind, with the prime season for clean, rideable waves occurring in winter, particularly in December.
