Praia do Almoxarife on Ilha do Faial in the Azores is a sheltered beach break with quite reliable surf, especially in autumn and winter. It works best with north to north-northwest swells and offshore winds from the west, primarily receiving groundswells. The beach offers both left and right waves and remains relatively uncrowded even on good days. Surfers should watch for submerged rocks. The best month to surf Praia do Almoxarife is January, when winter swells and offshore winds most consistently produce clean, rideable waves.
