📍 Local Knowledge

Praia de Santa Rita is a very exposed beach break in Central Portugal (Lourinhã/Torres Vedras) that offers consistent surf year-round, featuring both left and right-hand waves with multiple, shifting peaks. It is a suitable spot for all levels of surfers, especially beginners and intermediates, and is a great option when other spots are flat. The most favorable conditions are a West or Northwest swell combined with strong offshore winds from the East or Southeast. The break typically works best around low tide when the tide is falling, but can be surfed at mid-tide as well. The bottom is mainly sand with a small reef/rocky section on the northern edge. The spot is generally uncrowded to moderately crowded and the vibe is welcoming. Surfers should be aware that the exposed nature means the waves can get messy easily with onshore wind, and on big swell days, there can be strong currents. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically during Winter (October–March).
