πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Praia de Madalena is an exposed beach break in Vila Nova de Gaia that offers fairly consistent surf year-round, featuring both left and right-hand waves. The most favorable conditions are a West to Southwest groundswell combined with offshore winds from the Northeast. The break is generally surfable at all stages of the tide but is sometimes best around mid-tide. The spot is generally uncrowded but is popular for local surf schools. Surfers should be aware of rock formations and potential pollution near the Porto region. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in December.
