Praia da Galé in the Algarve is a semi-exposed beach break that offers fairly consistent surf, working best with west to southwest swells and offshore winds from the east or northeast. The long sandy beach produces a mix of lefts and rights, with shifting sandbars that tend to perform best around mid tide. While summer can be slower, autumn and winter swells often deliver clean, well-shaped waves suitable for most skill levels. Crowds vary but generally stay moderate due to the beach’s wide, open layout. The best month for consistent, clean surf is typically December.
