Mareta is a very sheltered beach break in South Portugal that has inconsistent surf, with Winter being the best time of year for surfing, featuring both left and right-hand waves. The most favorable conditions are a West-Northwest groundswell combined with offshore winds from the Northwest. The break works best around mid tide. The spot is a fairly popular wave that can sometimes get crowded. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in February.
