📍 Local Knowledge
Lago do Linho on Ilha de São Jorge in the Azores is an exposed point and reef break known for long, powerful left‑hand waves when swell energy is present. It works best with northwest swells and offshore winds from the southwest, with the swell wrapping into the fajã and producing defined, peeling lefts over a boulder and rocky reef bottom, making it more suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers. The break is relatively uncrowded thanks to its remote access and rugged location, though getting there can take a longer walk or a quad taxi ride. The best month to surf Lago do Linho is January.
