πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Fao is an exposed reef break in Douro and Minho that offers fairly consistent surf year-round. The most favorable conditions are a Northwest groundswell with offshore winds from the East. The break provides good surf at all stages of the tide. The spot is uncrowded, even when it is working. Surfers should be aware of urchins, rips/undertow, and rocks. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in December.
