Esposende is an exposed river break in North Porto that offers quite consistent surf and can work year-round. The most favorable conditions are a West swell (from windswells or groundswells) combined with offshore winds from the East. The break works best around mid tide when the tide is rising. The spot is a fairly popular wave that can sometimes get crowded, and surfers should be aware of dangerous rips. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in December.
