Contendas on Ilha Terceira in the Azores is a sheltered left-hand reef point break with quite consistent surf, especially during autumn and winter. It works best with north swells and offshore winds from the west-northwest, primarily receiving groundswells. The break is relatively uncrowded even on good days. The best month to surf Contendas is November, when winter swells and offshore winds most often combine for clean, rideable waves.
