Carrapateira is an exposed sandbar break in The Algarve that offers quite reliable surf year-round, featuring both left and right-hand waves. The most favorable conditions are a Northwest swell from local windswells or distant groundswells combined with offshore winds from the Southeast. Surfers should be aware of rocks. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in October.
