Alfagar is an exposed reef break in The Algarve that only works when conditions are just right, featuring both left and right-hand waves. The most favorable conditions are a Southwest groundswell combined with offshore winds from the North. The break is surfable at all stages of the tide. The spot is sometimes crowded. Surfers should be aware of urchins, rocks, man-made danger (buoys etc.), and localism. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in April.
