Saint Gilles Croix de Vie in the Côte de Lumière is an exposed beach break celebrated for its very consistent surf, though it typically goes flat during the summer months. This spot is a major groundswell magnet, performing at its peak with a West-southwest swell and Northeast offshore winds. One of its biggest advantages is its reliability across the tidal range, providing good surf at all stages of the tide with both left and right-hand peaks. However, because it is one of the most accessible and popular spots in the region, it is frequently packed. In fact, the crowds here can reach hazard levels, making a helmet ("lid") a very wise choice for anyone entering the lineup. The prime season for consistent, clean waves is the Spring, with March being the standout month.
