📍 Local Knowledge
La Terrière in the Vendée is a high-energy exposed beach break known for its consistency and quality peaks. This spot produces both left and right-hand waves, drawing from a balanced mix of local windswells and distant groundswells, ideally from the West. A key tactical note for this break is that it performs best around mid-tide. Because it is a premier destination in the region, it is frequently crowded, and the sheer volume of surfers in the water can sometimes reach hazard levels—so much so that wearing a helmet (a "lid") is a sensible precaution. The best conditions occur when a West swell meets East-northeast offshore winds, with March and the Spring season providing the most reliable windows for clean surf.
