La Baie des Sables in the Vendée is a fairly consistent exposed sandbar break located right in the heart of Les Sables-d'Olonne. While the summer months often see it go flat, it is a reliable producer of left and right-hand waves throughout the rest of the year. This spot is equally likely to receive local windswells and distant groundswells, performing at its peak with a Southwest swell angle. Uniquely for this part of the coast, it favors North offshore winds. Given its central location in a major seaside resort, it is sometimes crowded in the water. Interestingly, despite the general summer lull, June is noted as a prime month for finding consistent, clean surf when the conditions align.
