πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Boulder Beach on the Otago Peninsula is an exposed beach break with reasonably consistent surf that can be surfed year-round. The best surf occurs with a south swell and offshore winds from the north, typically during autumnβ€”most often in Marchβ€”when clean, rideable waves are most common. Windswells and groundswells are equally likely, the beach produces both left and right-hand waves, and it works best around low tide. The lineup is rarely crowded, but surfers should watch out for strong rips and the potential presence of sharks.
