Bobs Beach in Dunedin is an exposed point break with quite reliable surf that can work year-round. The best surf occurs with a south swell and offshore winds from the west, typically during winter—most often in June—when clean, rideable waves are most consistent. Groundswells and windswells are equally likely, and the break works best around low tide. The lineup remains relatively uncrowded even on good days, but surfers should take care due to strong rips and the potential presence of sharks.
