📍 Local Knowledge

Coos Bay Bastendorf Beach in South Oregon is an exposed beach break with very reliable surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. It performs best with a west swell and offshore winds from the southeast, with groundswells and windswells equally likely. Good surf can be found at all tide stages. The spot can sometimes get crowded, and surfers should be cautious of rips, undertow, pollution, and sharks. Consistent clean waves are most common during winter, especially in January.
