π Local Knowledge
Agate Beach in Oregon South is an exposed beach break that offers consistent surf throughout the year, working well on all tides. It receives a mix of windswells and groundswells, with the best swell direction coming from the west. Waves break both left and right, and the spot is partially sheltered from north winds. Offshore winds from the east create the most favorable conditions, especially during the winter monthsβmost reliably in Januaryβwhen clean, rideable waves are most common. While it can get crowded, surfers should watch out for strong rip currents and occasional shark sightings.
