πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Paulilles is a sheltered beach and reef break that requires a significant swell to wrap into the bay. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here, as the summer months tend to be mostly flat. It performs best when a strong south or southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the west or northwest. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights, and the spot is notably versatile, offering good surf at all stages of the tide. While it is a relatively quiet location compared to the more exposed breaks to the north, it can occasionally become crowded when conditions are ideal. Surfers should exercise caution and be mindful of hazards such as submerged rocks and the occasional presence of strong rips. The best conditions reported for surf at Paulilles occur when a Southeast swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the West-northwest.
