Palavas les Flots in Provence is an exposed beach break, with autumn and winter offering the most reliable seasons for waves. It performs best with a southeast swell and offshore winds from the northwest, though waves are much more typically generated by local windswells than groundswells. The spot provides both left and right-handers across the beach and is notably versatile, as it maintains good surf quality at all stages of the tide. The most optimal conditions occur when a primary southeasterly windswell aligns with a steady northwesterly offshore breeze.
