Montalivet in the Gironde is an exposed beach break that offers fairly consistent surf and can function year-round. This spot produces both left and right-hand waves fueled by an equal measure of local windswells and distant groundswells. A notable feature of this break is that the surf quality remains consistent regardless of the tide. While it is unlikely to be crowded even when the waves are on, surfers must remain extremely vigilant of strong rip currents that are common in this area. The best conditions occur when a West swell combines with East offshore winds, with October being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
