Le Penon in Seignosse is an exposed beach and jetty break characterized by its inconsistent surf, which doesn't follow a strict seasonal pattern compared to some neighboring spots. It produces both left and right-handers, fueled equally by local windswells and distant groundswells. A major advantage of Le Penon is that it offers good surf at all stages of the tide; however, its popularity means the water can get quite busy when the waves are on. Surfers should remain cautious of dangerous rip currents, which are frequent here. The best conditions occur when a West swell combines with East offshore winds, with October being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
