π Local Knowledge
Labenne OcΓ©an in the Landes region (often associated with the northern end of the Basque Coast stretch) is an exposed beach break that offers quite reliable surf and can work at any time of the year. This spot provides both left and right-hand waves primarily fueled by groundswells; while it is best surfed around high tide, it has the distinct advantage of being unlikely to get overly crowded, even when the conditions are prime. The best conditions occur when a West swell combines with East offshore winds, with October being the top month for consistent, clean waves.
