📍 Local Knowledge

La Lagune in the Gironde is an exposed beach break located just south of the Bassin d'Arcachon, near the famous Dune du Pilat. It is known for having inconsistent surf, with the summer months frequently remaining flat. This spot produces both left and right-hand waves fueled by a mix of groundswells and windswells; notably, it favors a Southwest swell angle, which differs from many of the more northerly Gironde breaks. Due to its specific location and the walk required to reach the water, it never gets crowded, offering a secluded experience. The best conditions occur when a Southwest swell combines with Southeast offshore winds, with December being the prime month for finding consistent, clean waves.
