Le Sémaphore on the Côte Sauvage in Charente-Maritime is an exposed sandbar break that offers very consistent waves and remains active year-round. This spot receives an equal mix of groundswells and windswells, making it a reliable choice regardless of the swell source; however, its popularity means it can sometimes become crowded. Like several other spots along this stretch of the coast, visitors should be aware of potential water pollution. The best conditions occur when a West swell combines with East-northeast offshore winds, with October being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
