📍 Local Knowledge

Saint Denis on the Île d'Oléron is a very sheltered beach break that requires specific conditions to truly come alive, often remaining flat during the summer months. This spot is unique because it works best with West offshore winds, which is unusual for the region. It offers beach break waves that peel to the left and features a left-hand point break as well. For the best shape, it is ideally surfed around high tide. The most favorable conditions occur when a West swell combines with that rare West offshore wind. January and the Winter months are the prime times to find consistent, rideable waves here.
