📍 Local Knowledge

Les Huttes on the Île d'Oléron is an exposed beach break situated at the northern end of the island, known for its ability to pick up plenty of swell. This spot produces both left and right-hand waves from a mix of groundswells and windswells, ideally from the West. Unlike some other regional breaks, Les Huttes performs best around high tide. Because of its popularity and accessibility, it can become crowded when conditions are good. Surfers should exercise caution regarding hidden rocks and strong rip currents. The best conditions occur when a West swell combines with East-northeast offshore winds, and while October provides great sessions, Spring is generally regarded as a prime season for consistent, clean waves.
