📍 Local Knowledge

Les Boulassiers on the Île d'Oléron is a very sheltered reef break that offers a quieter alternative to the island's more exposed spots. Because of its protected nature, it requires specific conditions to work and frequently remains flat during the summer months, despite July being noted as a month where clean (though often small) waves can occur. The break favors a Northwest swell paired with Southwest offshore winds, and it is one of the few spots in the area that provides good surf at all stages of the tide. It is rarely crowded, but surfers must be cautious of the rocks that form the reef.
