πŸ“ Local Knowledge

La Couarde/Mer on the Île de Ré is a highly reliable exposed beach and jetty break, distinguishing itself by offering very consistent surf that works throughout the year. Unlike many of the fickle reef breaks nearby, this spot is a go-to for locals and visitors alike. It produces both left and right-hand waves from a mix of groundswells and windswells, ideally from the West-southwest. The wave quality is at its peak around high tide. Interestingly, while many spots in the region peak in Autumn or Winter, La Couarde/Mer is noted for great consistency during the Summer, with May often providing the cleanest and most rideable conditions when paired with a North offshore wind.
