πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Shipwreck Bay – Supertubes (Northland): A sheltered reef break with fairly consistent surf, best suited to left-handers breaking over the beach sections. Optimal conditions occur with a southwest swell and offshore south winds, particularly during winter, peaking around October. The break works best around low tide as it’s rising, receiving long-period groundswells from distant sources. While generally uncrowded, surfers should watch out for strong rips.
