📍 Local Knowledge

Ngataki Beach and Paxton Point, located in Northland, are exposed beach breaks with consistent surf, offering both lefts and rights as well as a left-hand point break. The best conditions occur on a Northeast swell with offshore winds from the Southwest, while some shelter is provided from north winds. Groundswells generally produce clean waves, best around mid tide. Surfers should be cautious of rips and rocks. The area is rarely crowded, and the most consistent surf with clean, rideable waves is typically found during summer, especially in January.
