Topsail Beach is an exposed beach-break known for its fairly consistent surf, benefitting from both groundswells and windswells and offering ample opportunities for surf across all tides. Right now, the surf is knee-to-thigh high in the morning, building into waist-high by afternoon as a new windswell moves in from the northeast. This spot typically performs best in winter—particularly November—when southeast swells and offshore northwest winds converge to produce cleaner, more rideable waves. When conditions align, expect peaky lefts and rights with a generally uncrowded lineup. However, dangerous rips are common and should always be approached with caution.
