📍 Local Knowledge

The Point in North Carolina is an exposed beach break that offers reasonably consistent surf and can work throughout the year. It performs best when a south swell aligns with offshore winds from the northwest, producing waves that tend to favor left-hand rides. The break picks up a mix of groundswells and windswells and is surfable at all stages of the tide. Despite its potential, The Point remains largely uncrowded—even during optimal conditions—making it a peaceful option for more experienced surfers. However, strong rip currents are a known hazard and require caution. The best conditions for clean, rideable surf typically occur in autumn, with September being the most favorable month.
