📍 Local Knowledge
Martin Street in Kill Devil Hills (Outer Banks) is a centrally located beach-break known for its moderate consistency and local appeal, often favored during shoulder seasons when conditions align. It tends to perform best in fall, especially October, when nor’easter swells and late-season tropical activity deliver more frequent groundswells, typically enhanced by offshore or cross-offshore winds. Surf shape can work across all tides but relies heavily on favorable sandbar setups, producing fun, rideable waves with generally light crowds. Access is excellent—with paved parking, handicap spaces, outdoor showers, a wooden walkway, and lifeguard coverage during the season—making it both convenient and safe. Surfers should, however, remain watchful for shifting bars and occasional rip currents.
