📍 Local Knowledge

Long Beach in North Carolina is an exposed beach break with generally unreliable surf, though conditions improve in summer. It receives both local windswells and distant groundswells, with the ideal swell direction from the south and offshore winds from the north. Waves break both left and right and are best around high tide. The best surf occurs when south swells combine with north winds. Autumn tends to bring the most consistent clean waves, with August being the prime month. The spot is rarely crowded, but strong rip currents pose a danger.
