It works best when a south swell aligns with offshore winds from the north-northwest, producing both left and right-hand waves. The break handles a balanced mix of groundswells and windswells and delivers good surf across all stages of the tide. Despite its quality, it remains rarely crowded, offering a more relaxed experience for surfers. Hazards to watch for include rip currents, urchins, sharks, and man-made dangers like buoys. The best conditions typically occur in winter, with February being the most reliable month for clean, rideable waves.
