📍 Local Knowledge
Bennett Street in Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks of North Carolina is a generally uncrowded beach-break that benefits from its proximity to Kitty Hawk Pier, offering surfable conditions year-round with a quieter vibe. It tends to perform best in July, when southeast swells and west to southwest winds converge to produce cleaner, more consistent waves typical of summer conditions. The surf shape tends to hold well across tides, and although the bottom structure is mostly uniform sand, nearby shifting sandbars near the pier can occasionally influence wave quality. While access is easy via limited gravel parking at Milepost 2 and a direct sand access walkover, surfers should remain cautious of rip currents and the occasional crowd spillover from more popular nearby breaks.
