Poor conditions right now. Tiny waves under 1ft with quality 9s ground swell but pretty windy at 14kt Note: winds from SW would be better. Might want to wait for better conditions.

📍 Local Knowledge

Ruby Bay in Nelson - Tasman Bay is a sheltered point break where the best conditions occur when a North swell (a mix of groundswells and windswells) combines with an offshore wind direction from the Southwest. The spot offers some shelter from West-southwest winds, but even light onshore winds will ruin the wave quality. The point break produces left-handers that perform best around mid tide. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water, and surfers should take care to manage the strong rips present here. The best time of year for consistent, clean waves is during the winter, particularly the month of January.
