📍 Local Knowledge

Port Robinson in Kaikoura is an exposed point break that has quite reliable surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. The best conditions occur when a Southeast swell, which is typically a mix of groundswells and windswells, combines with an offshore wind direction from the West-southwest. The break performs best around high tide and is unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. The best time of year for surfing Port Robinson with consistent, clean waves is during the winter, particularly the month of June.
