πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Magnet Bay on Banks Peninsula is an exposed reef and point break with reasonably consistent surf that can work year-round. The best surf occurs with a south-southeast swell and offshore winds from the northeast, typically during autumnβ€”most often in Marchβ€”when clean, rideable waves are most reliable. Waves come from both windswells and groundswells, forming a left-hand point break that works best around mid tide on a rising tide. The lineup is very rarely crowded, but surfers should take care around rocks in the lineup.
