📍 Local Knowledge

Turtle Cove in Long Island, NY, is an exposed reef and point break with consistent surf year-round. It works best with offshore winds from the west and receives a mix of windswells and groundswells, with the ideal swell direction from the southeast. The break features a left-hand reef wave and works best around mid tide when the tide is rising. The best conditions occur when a southeast swell aligns with west winds. Summer, especially July, provides the most consistent clean waves. The spot can get crowded at times, and surfers should be cautious of rocks, rip currents, and jellyfish.
