📍 Local Knowledge

Coopers Beach in Suffolk County is a scenic, semi-exposed beach break offering consistent waves that are best during late summer and fall when tropical systems and strong south swells provide the most energy. Offshore northwest to west winds help shape clean, peaky lefts and rights across shifting sandbars, making it suitable for a wide range of skill levels. The spot works on all tides, though mid tide often yields the best mix of power and shape. Crowds can be moderate, especially on weekends, but the long beach provides room to spread out. Surfers should be mindful of rip currents and occasional shorebreak. The best surf is usually from August through October.
