📍 Local Knowledge
Wildwood/Five Mile Island in New Jersey is an exposed beach break that offers fairly consistent surf and can work throughout the year. It thrives when southeast swells align with offshore winds from the northwest, delivering both left and right-hand waves. The spot handles both local windswells and distant groundswells, with good surf possible at all stages of the tide. Despite its reliability, Wildwood Crest remains relatively uncrowded, offering a more relaxed surfing experience. However, surfers should be cautious of rip currents and jellyfish, which are common hazards in the area. The best conditions for clean, rideable waves typically occur during the summer, with November also standing out as a favorable month.
