📍 Local Knowledge
The Cove at Sandy Hook in New Jersey is a popular, exposed beach and point (jetty) break that offers consistent surf year-round. The best conditions occur when a south swell combines with a southwest offshore wind, particularly around low tide as it begins to rise. Both windswell and groundswell are common, with the ideal swell angle coming from the south. The best time for clean, rideable waves is in the spring, especially April. Surf here can get crowded, and surfers should be cautious of rocks and pollution. When the conditions align, the Cove produces impressive A-frame take-offs, barrels, and long rides along the cove’s wall.
