📍 Local Knowledge

South Carolina Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey is an exposed beach break that comes alive during strong northeast swells, especially around hurricane season in late summer and early fall. Offshore west to northwest winds help groom incoming swell, producing peaky lefts and rights across multiple sandbars. The break works across all tide stages, though mid to high tide usually provides the best balance of shape and rideability. It stays fairly mellow on smaller days, but bigger swells can draw a solid crowd of locals. Surfers should watch out for strong rip currents and shifting sandbars when the surf builds. The most consistent clean waves usually show up in September.
