📍 Local Knowledge

Ship Bottom in New Jersey is a semi-exposed beach break known for its consistent, punchy peaks that can offer fast, hollow sections during good sandbar conditions. Offshore winds from the west pair well with swells from the southeast through northeast, creating both left and right rides suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers. The spot can be surfed on all tides, but mid to incoming tide often provides the best combination of power and shape. Crowds are common in summer, especially near public beach access points, but can thin out during the colder months. The most consistent clean waves usually occur in September.
